This is what my ideal day’s menu would look like For breakfast, I’d like your tongue, pan fried In between two toasted slices of wholegrain bread Some chutney, too, made from your testicles/ovaries Mid-morning, I’d like some of your fingers, fried With peanut butter and cheese Toe chips would serve just as well Get me your liver, steamed, for lunch Topped with peppered mustard leaves and veggies Some fingers too, grilled this time With my evening tea, I’d like some skin crispies Roasted over a slow flame Preferably still on you when it’s served My dinner, I’d like it to be wholesome Let it start with a quart of your blood Some sautéed kidney strips and Thai thigh curry Served on a bed of buttered rice If this much you cannot do I have a humble request to make Keep the other living beings, off my menu as well Or fear the day I am in charge of hell’s kitchen For you will be there, sure as hell Await I shall, with bated breath To make a sumptuous meal of you Im...

Blind as a Bat

He knew the alarm had gone of thrice. It was 14:18 and he had to make it to the interview, half an hour away, in a little over forty minutes. The July sun had warmed his skin. When he opened his eyes he figured he was still groggy from last night’s Long Islands. On his feet, rubbing his eyes, walking to the bathroom, nothing was a haze. He just couldn’t see. Despite not seeing, he knew exactly where he had to go, not a foot out of place, almost as if he’d developed a new complementary sense. Making it to the interview with three minutes to spare, he felt he was at the wrong place. He left, sat under a tree tucked in a corner for the following few hours, staring into space, although, not really. The sun began to set just after 19:00 and this is when his vision started to get blurry. By the time it was dark, he could see everything as it was meant to be seen, and a feeling of hopelessness started creeping in.
