Here, Now

Here I am
In the dawn of the waking light

Thoughts in mind out of reason
Driven to conclusions unknown
Thoughts in mind out of season
No trees, no plants, no seeds were sown

Often told
“Curb your urge to fly
Clip them wings
The cage you are in
It’s your cage now”

“Look in, introspect
Your thoughts, you dissect
Joy and sorrow
Merriment and grief
Choose
For the choice is yours”

That said and done
The state of mind
Joy and sorrow
Merriment and grief
Where I want to be
Is the choice really mine?

Here I am
In the dawn of the waking light
I might be dumb
Maybe just happy

Dawn, Joy, Sorrow, Merriment, Grief, Choices

i agree, you do always have a choice (even when there's a wife staying with a husband who beats her), and that you can choose to be happy, content, with what you have. nicely written.
